(sections 2.13.1 through 2.13.3) for the desired operation and
then click OK to save the settings.
Some configuration settings do not take effect until the system
is restarted. After completing sections 2.13.1 through 2.13.3
follow the instructions in section 2.13.4.
2.13.1 Instrument Configuration
Solvents – When you installed the system, two solvents were
connected to the back panel. This section of the Instrument
Configuration tab allows you to name these solvents. To do so:
1. Click the “Add Solvent” button.
2. Enter the solvent name and click the OK button.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all solvents.
Solvent Level Sensing – Select the “Enable solvent level
sensing” check box to enable this feature (recommended).
Clear this box to disable this feature.
The solvent level sensing feature will monitor solvent usage to
minimize the risk of running out of solvent during a
purification run. The system compares the volume required
for a purification run with the estimated volume in the solvent
container and alerts you when there is not enough.
If the Torrent is connected to pressurized lines, disable solvent
level sensing.
If using the solvent level sensing feature, enter the Minimum
Solvent Level (density dependent) as a range in centimeters.
To understand this range, consider that dichloromethane is
more dense than hexane. If the selected range is 1–4, the
system triggers an alert when the dichloromethane level rises
to about 1 cm above the tip of the level sense line. At the same
selected range, the system would trigger an alert when the
hexane rises to about 4 cm above the tip of the level sense line.
Waste Level Sensing – The Torrent can detect full container
conditions if the air line is placed in the waste collection
container. If waste level detection is desired, enable the waste
